Introduction:
First of all, I'm sure you're wondering what this "YAC" thing is all about. The acronym Y.A.C. stands for Youth Advisory Council. We're a group of kids from middle to high school age that get together once a week, (sometimes more, sometimes less) and discuss ideas on how to make Lake Stevens better. We do many service projects around the community, doing our best to make things better for now, and the generations to come. We do a lot of work with the senior citizens in our community, ensuring they never get lonely, and always have a friend. For the 2009-2010 school year, YAC will be meeting on Thursdays for an hour or so after school every week.
Benefits of YAC
Mission
To broaden the scope of youth leadership in Lake Stevens, Washington through volunteerism, service and initiatives that are directed towards allowing youth input on policy issues, identifying youth issues, and participating in the development of positive solutions.
Expectations
1) There needs to be a minimum of four volunteer projects a year
2) The projects must benefit the community, not just family members
3) The project needs to be able to include other volunteers
Youth will need to recognize a new skill from volunteering So.. I see you're interested in YAC!
Well, we're always for new members to join us. So e-mail me, Jasmyn, (click here) or stop by the Family Center for more information! We hope to hear from you soon!
