Supporting "Families Helping Families"

with

A contribution to our local Family Support Center.

This year is particularly hard for local families struggling because of current economic challenges due to recent lay-offs, business closures, or workforce reductions.

This Holiday Season we are anticipating a very real challenge in providing Holiday Giving requests for nearly 1000 local community children; children who will have no gifts under the tree without the kindness and holiday giving spirit of "community family" members.

2010 will bring us new and ongoing challenges in our ability to respond to the diverse and ever-changing/ever-increasing needs of our community.

With every challenge comes opportunity!  We would like to offer you the opportunity to make a positive impact and provide hope to a local community family.

Your financial donation will make Holiday Wishes come true and bring Hope and Sustainability to local families in the coming New Year!

THANK YOU! We deeply value your involvement and thank you for your generosity and support.

November 22-28, 2009 is National Family Week.

During this week of Thanksgiving, we invite you to celebrate with us, give thanks, reflect, and consider how you could be a resource to someone who will benefit from your talents, experiences, or support.

Donations other than Monetary

We recognize that not everyone has the ability to donate money - no matter how valuable they may find our services to be in our community.  There ARE other ways you can support our work in helping provide local families, children and individuals have what they need to sustain and succeed.
  1. Donate a holiday gift to a local child in a low-income family - making wishes come true.
  2. Bring your gently used baby clothes or new diapers and know you will be helping provide needed supports and hope to local teen moms and dads.  (The law prohibits us from accepting cribs, car seats, strollers, toys or high chairs.)
  3. Give your old, gently used, winter coats and blankets to bring warmth to people of all ages during the cold winter months.
  4. Gently used binders, backpacks, or other school supplies to help children of families needing assistance to begin a new school year with equality and dignity.
  5. Open package, new or old office supplies - paper, pens, white out, binders, staples ... etc.... will always be gratefully welcome and help us to provide more financial supports to programs and activities.
  6. Link your Albertsons Preferred Partner card to our Center to help support activities of the Center that address youth needs.
  7. Volunteer!  We'd LOVE to have you as part of our team - long-term, short-term, or at a one time event.

Community Garden

Brendan Cheap's Eagle Scout Project is already a popular spot for contributing to growing fresh vegetables for center programs and local families.

Fresh Tomatoes before too long thanks to
Heather, Sabrina and Amy Metcalf!

Eagle Scout Project

Saturday June 6th, Brendan Cheap completed his Eagle Scout project; the fourth Eagle Scout project that has contributed to the betterment of the Family Center and it's usability by everyone in our community.
Brendan had worked for months on designing, planning, procuring supplies and financial support.  His tremendous efforts have paid off and LSFC now has three community garden beds where vegetables can be grown by community groups and to support low-income dinners or possibly even support supplementing the LSFC emergency food pantry or our local Lake Stevens Food Bank.

In addition - there is a beautiful spot for people to now rest at the pic nic table Brendan contributed in addition to the vegetable beds.
THANK YOU BRENDAN*AND ALL WHO SUPPORTED HIS PROJECT!

LOCAL ARTIST CONTRIBUTES TO LSFC

SPECIAL THANKS to local artist Lia Stuart for her
talented contribution to the identity and aesthetics of the Family Center.

Months of Lia's work make it much easier for families to find us with the beauty of our new
hand-painted sign - a replica of the Family Center Logo.
